It is the month of love, and of course, as a reputable book club, we can't let ourselves be outdone on the issue of love. So, *drumrolls please* our author for the month is the writer of the sensational relationship book, "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"; John Gray, PhD.

John Gray

John Gray is an American relationship counselor, lecturer, and author. Born in 1951 in Houston, Texas. John Gray received his doctorate in Psychology and Human Sexuality from Columbia Pacific University in 1982. In 1969, he began a nine-year affiliation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as his personal assistant before beginning his career as an author and personal relationship counselor.

After marrying self-help author Barbara De Angelis and divorcing in 1984, he re-evaluated his views on marriages and relationships, and in 1992, he published the book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. This book became a long-term bestseller and formed the central theme of his subsequent books and career activities. His books have sold millions of copies.

USA Today listed his book as one of the top 10 most influential books of the last quarter-century. In hardcover, it was the number 1 best-selling book of the 1990s. Dr. Gray’s book has been translated into approximately 45 languages in more than 100 countries and continues to be a bestseller. That would make him the best-selling relationship author of all time! And guess what? He actually is.

John Gray has been a Certified Family Therapist for over 15 years and has been conducting personal growth seminars for more than three decades. He is a consulting editor of The Family Journal and is a member of the distinguished advisory board of the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors. Gray received the coveted Smart Marriages Impact Award in 2001. He has also written over 20 books and now aids men and women in work and life relationships to better understand and respect their diversity. His method combines precise communication tactics with healthy, nutritious choices that build the brain and body chemistry necessary for long-term health, happiness, and romance.

An avid follower of his own health, fitness, and relationship advice. He lives in Northern California, where for 34 years, he happily shared his life with his beautiful wife, Bonnie, until her passing in 2018. They have three grown daughters and four grandchildren. He and his daughter Lauren Gray have now dedicated their lives to teaching healthy love that lasts.
