Know Your Author Series - Episode 1 - #Execution
Hello everyone
Welcome to our Know Your Author series 😁😇!
We observed that it is more interesting to read a book and finish it 😅 when you know a thing or two about the author(s). It allows you to read from their perspective, experience, background and even with their tone. So here it goes. Have fun! We hope you enjoy reading this post as much as we enjoyed writing it.
This is the first-ever Know Your Author write up, and we are super excited about it. Today, we'll be getting to know the authors of our book for April at Discovery Shoppe Book Club, "Execution: The Discipline Of Getting Things Done."
First off, we have:
Lawrence Arthur "Larry" Bossidy.
Lawrence Arthur "Larry'' Bossidy is an American author and retired businessman. He co-authored Execution with business consultant Ram Charan, which became a bestseller. But Larry wasn't always so business-minded: growing up, he had dreams of being a Major League Baseball pitcher. He once had a 95+ mph fastball in high school, so much so that a scout offered him a $40,000 contract to pitch for the Detroit Tigers. His mother wouldn't let him sign the contract though, insisting that he finish his University program. He then went on to be employed at General Electric (GE), and during his 34-year stint, he would hold several positions, including Chief Operations Officer, Executive Vice President and President of GE's Services and Materials Sector, among other roles.
Larry was described as "boisterous and a little unsettling to the insecure. He challenged everything; if you couldn't back up what you said, lookout." He sure sounds like a boss you wouldn't want to have if you botched a job due to your carelessness! Larry is an avid reader (No surprises there!). His favourite author is James Joyce, who (guess what) is NOT a business writer (shocker!). He is happily married with nine children and thirty-one grandchildren (well, he is eighty-six year old).
Our second author is:
Ram Charan
Fun facts about Ram Charan: He rarely smiles (including the picture above), he bought a house he's never seen, and claims not to know where it's even located (who does that?). He has never been in his own office building and sleeps for only 48 hours a week! He also doesn't believe in setting goals. At 82, he's not married, and (literally) lives in hotels.

Very interesting write-up. Plus I love the comic relief... Lolz. From my view I thought Ram was smiling in the picture though 😇
ReplyDeleteHahaha thank you. He actually was but he 'rarely' smiles, so that should be a one-off lol
